Concepts Explained

Understand the formulas and logic behind our most popular tools.

How to calculate EMI manually?

EMI = [P × r × (1+r)^n] / [(1+r)^n – 1]. Where P = principal, r = monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12), n = loan tenure in months. Use our EMI calculator for instant results.

What is the BMI formula?

BMI = Weight (kg) ÷ Height (m)². For Indians, WHO recommends treating BMI ≥ 23 as overweight and ≥ 27.5 as obese — lower than the global 25/30 thresholds due to higher metabolic risk.

How is SIP return calculated?

SIP uses compound interest: Future Value = P × [(1+r)^n – 1] ÷ r × (1+r). Where P = monthly investment, r = expected monthly return rate, n = number of months invested.

How is gold price calculated with GST?

Total = (Weight × Gold rate per gram) + Making charges + 3% GST on gold + 5% GST on making charges. On ₹1,00,000 gold with ₹10,000 making: GST = ₹3,000 + ₹500 = ₹3,500.
